Unlocking Funding for a Social Enterprise in Ghana

Overview

National development is a mandate that extends to both the state and the private sector. For firms, this is demonstrated by the growing emphasis on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In this vein, social enterprises have been growing rapidly – applying a market-based approach (profit-seeking) to solving developmental issues in education, healthcare, food and water insecurity, the environment, among others.

A global logistics company that delivers essential health supplies, needed funds to support its operations in Ghana. Traditional sources of funding, including from government agencies, were not sufficient to meet funding needs. For this reason, they sought the company’s expertise in devising a comprehensive fundraising strategy.

Our Approach

Qualitative Analysis:

Interviews were conducted with industry stakeholders to better understand the pain points of donors. An effort was also made to demonstrate the impact of the client’s services on beneficiary communities – by allowing people to share their stories.

Quantitative Analysis:

An index was designed to evaluate organisations reputed for philanthropy; this enabled targeted fundraising efforts.

Implementation

The firm provided a compelling value proposition that highlighted the project’s social impact, scalability, and alignment with sustainable development goals.

Results and Conclusion

Fundraising efforts generated over $200,000, enabling the client to continue impacting rural communities and expanding operational capacity. As an organization committed to socioeconomic development, Zach Levi and Associates supports social enterprises.
